Plain-language terms for the photographers we work with. These sit alongside our editorial policy and copyright pages.
You own your photographs. Submitting to us or joining our roster never transfers copyright — you can license the same images to anyone else, unless we've separately agreed an exclusive arrangement in writing.
By submitting images, or by letting us pull from a portfolio you've sent, you grant Nusound Press a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to publish those images on our site and in our own social and newsletter promotion of that coverage. It's revocable — ask us to take an image down and we will.
Every image runs with your credit, formatted as “Photo: your name”, and where possible we link it to your portfolio. If you'd like a specific credit line or handle used, tell us.
Only send work you shot and own the rights to. Don't submit images made for another outlet under an exclusive agreement, images that need a property or venue release you don't have, or anything that would break a subject's reasonable expectations. You confirm you have the rights when you apply.
Featuring your existing work on the roster is not automatically a paid commission. When we commission you to shoot something, we agree scope, usage and rate in writing beforehand. Nothing here obliges either of us to a paid engagement.
If an image is published in error, mis-credited, or you need it removed, email us and we'll fix or remove it promptly. See our Copyright / DMCA page for formal notices.
